Despite the economic uncertainty of 2023, which carried onto 2024, many construction and remodeling services experts in the industry remain optimistic that the market for general contractors in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities will be more consistent and stronger this year. It has been reported by the American Institute of Architects that there will be an overall gain of 22 percent in spending for construction across the U.S. The commercial construction company sector is said to gain by 3%, the industrial institution buildings by 4%, and the industrial facilities by 15%. With the housing market poised to make a turnaround for the better in 2024 after the doldrums of the 2023 recession, it is sure to give an excellent footing to the general contractors in Los Angeles and other cities of California and across the U.S.

Construction & Remodeling Services In Los Angeles Is Poised To Gain

The fear of recession is still not over for many industries, and in November 2023, it was reported that U.S. construction was in a less spending mode due to the decline in public project outlaying. However, it was later reported that the Commerce Department revised the data to show that consumer spending, labor market, and confidence in the recent economy will boost the general contractors in Los Angeles and other cities despite the stumble in the fourth quarter.

Industry experts suggest that one sector in the construction industry that will keep the market afloat and improve it for the better is the housing sector, which will include home remodeling, kitchen remodeling, and bathroom remodeling. The work on houses and remodeling will take precedence because there is an immense scarcity of previously owned houses in the market. The single-family housing projects have mainly underpinned it. Furthermore, President Biden’s administration’s initiative to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S. will boost the construction factories.

The chief economist of FWDBONDS, Christopher Rupkey, stated that one of the primary reasons the Federal Reserve hikes did not affect the country’s economy as previously predicted by many other business cycles is the construction industry. But there is also a sound of caution by, Rupkey, which is that the only thing that can slow down the growth of the construction companies is the shortage of nationwide construction workers.

Even with this warning, there is still good news. Reuters has polled economists who had forecasted construction spending to rise by 0.6%. One of the sectors that is helping with this jump is residential construction, which has advanced to 1.1%, and this has been possible with the fixed mortgage rates falling below 7%. As a result, single-family homebuilding can see an immense surge in 2024.

Home Remodeling In Los Angeles Can Be A Game Changer

Chief economist with Zonda, Ali Wolf, a housing research firm, stated that in 2024, the new housing market is touted to become the dominant player. It is because home buyers are getting frustrated with the lack of inventory in the market. As a result, the general contractors in Los Angeles and other places in the U.S. will ramp up the construction while bearing in mind the costs are affordable for the buyers.

One of the strategies that will come into play is the sales incentives like assistance with the costs, offering better mortgage rates, and eco-friendly construction. It has been estimated that with these facilities in place and assuaging the fear of the home-buyers, single-family home constructions can move up to 30%.
